In mid-June 2021, innovative teams of researchers can once again submit project ideas for the ZonMw Open Competition. With the current pandemic situation, everybody is under a lot of pressure. Therefore, instead of 2 months, we will give applicants 4 months of preparation time to submit their project idea once the funding round has opened. The ZonMw Open Competition round 2026 will open on February 17, 2026. The deadline for submitting a pre-proposal is Thursday 2 April 2026 at 14:00 CET. After this, a decision procedure will take place, after which applicants will be invited to develop their pre-proposal into a proposal. The ZonMw Open Competition round for 2026 is in full preparation and is expected to open around mid-February 2026. The deadline for submitting the preproposal will be early April, 2026. A decision procedure will follow, after which applicants will be invited to further develop their project ideas.

Preparations for the new Off Road 2025 round have started. This new round will open on December 10, 2024, and the deadline for submitting grant applications is January 30, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Detailed information, including the complete timeline and the call for proposals, will be available on the website around this date.

The schedule with the 2023 submission dates for the Talent Scheme (Veni, Vidi, Vici) has been confirmed. Some changes have been made in the procedures of the new rounds, all designed to further simplify and save both applicants' and reviewers' precious time. - Afbeelding
The second round of the new programme ZonMw Open Competition will open On 20 February instead of 23 January. The deadline for the first phase of project ideas will be 16 April 2020. The deadline for submitting full proposals will also shift, namely to 15 September 2020.
