The number of people being diagnosed with cancer continues to rise steadily. One in three people in the Netherlands can now expect to experience cancer. How can we prevent it? What development or treatment might cure cancer, or make living with the disease more bearable? We fund a large number of cancer studies to find answers to these questions.- Optimal treatment for people with lung cancer: learn more about optimizing the use of oral oncolytics in patients with non-small cell lung cancer.
Research groups will further investigate the effect of COVID-19 vaccines in patients with immune disorders, cancer or a transplantation. These research projects are part of the COVID-19 research programme, and each project has received a grant from ZonMw.
People whose immune system is compromised run a higher risk of complications if they contract COVID-19. Furthermore, we do not have enough evidence to show whether these people are sufficiently protected after being vaccinated. For this reason, the Netherlands Organisation for Health Research and Development, ZonMw, is facilitating eight studies focusing on the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines…
In the ZonMw Open Competition 2024 round, a total of 29 research teams have been selected to receive funding from a total budget of €24 million. This funding enables the research groups to develop innovative team science initiatives that contribute to the long-term advancement of fundamental (bio)medical science and healthcare.
Sixteen research teams will set up innovative collaborations that contribute to innovation in science and healthcare for the longer term. Each team has received a maximum of 750,000 euros from the programme ZonMw Open Competition. The research groups will investigate, for example, the genetic factors of heart muscle diseases, better treatment of damage to the retina and the development of…
Clinical fellows awarded to 17 medical specialist who will serve as a bridge between clinical practice and scientific research.
Seventeen recently graduated scholars can do their research at foreign research institutes thanks to a Rubicon grant from NWO and ZonMw. For many researchers, experience abroad is an important step in their career. The Rubicon programme gives young, highly promising researchers the opportunity to gain international research experience.
The Off Road program offers 24 talented researchers the opportunity to explore their bold, out-of-the-box ideas within the field of (bio)medical science and healthcare. What do these researchers have in common? They dare to think beyond traditional boundaries.
Researchers from Science (ENW | 57), Applied and Engineering Sciences (AES | 15), Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH | 54), and Health Research and Development (ZonMw | 23) receive Vidi grants. This enables the laureates to develop an innovative line of research over the next 5 years and further expand their research group.
Vidi funding has been awarded to 109 researchers from the scientific fields of domain Science (ENW | 42), Applied and Technical Sciences (AES | 13), Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH | 35), and Healthcare Research and Medical Sciences (ZonMw | 19). With the help of the Vidi grant, researchers can further develop their own line of research.
