20 talented researchers will receive an Off Road grant to explore their bold, out-of-the-box ideas within the field of (bio)medical science and healthcare. This grant offers them the opportunity to test their innovative hypotheses in 1 to 1,5 years. What do these researchers have in common? They dare to think beyond traditional boundaries.
NWO has awarded Veni funding of up to EUR 280,000 to 188 promising researchers from the full breadth of science. This will allow the laureates to further develop their own research ideas over the next three years.
Improving the quality of surgery with video analysis. The crosstalk between sodium homeostasis and the gut microbiome. Can nature's microbes keep allergies away? These are 3 of the 200 projects who have received a Veni grant. The grant is an incentive for researchers to further develop their own research ideas over the next three years.

Vidi funding has been awarded to 109 researchers from the scientific fields of domain Science (ENW | 42), Applied and Technical Sciences (AES | 13), Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH | 35), and Healthcare Research and Medical Sciences (ZonMw | 19). With the help of the Vidi grant, researchers can further develop their own line of research.- The project will investigate the efficacy of sofosbuvir in a human infection model as prophylaxis against yellow fever.
In the ZonMw Open Competition round 2025, 31 research teams have been selected for a grant from a total budget of more than €26 million.

As more people contracted the virus, pressure on the healthcare system increased. Frontline healthcare workers sometimes had to provide care that fell below their usual standards. Working under high pressure contributed to moral injury among healthcare workers: a…
- A mpox project that will study and compare the magnitude and longevity of immunity induced by either vaccination or infection.
- Mpox incidence has significantly declined, the contribution of vaccination to the interruption of the outbreak is not fully understood. Dose-sparing can be achieved with less side effects.
