Lizz-TRANSCARE - Rehabilitation Assistance
This project supports stroke survivors transitioning from hospital or rehabilitation to home by providing a robotic therapy companion used both in-clinic and remotely. A gap currently exists between primary and secondary care, leaving discharged patients with limited structure and support.
Aims
LIZZ-TRANSCARE addresses this by offering a digital tool that encourages daily movement, engages patients, families, and healthcare staff, and enables safe, efficient data sharing. The project integrates Lizz, a social robot tailored for stroke rehabilitation, with SENS, a motion-sensing system that monitors activity and personalizes therapy.
Methods
Two Randomised Controlled Trials in Denmark and the Netherlands will compare the Lizz+SENS intervention with standard care at early and later recovery stages. The primary goal is increased physical activity, with expected secondary benefits in quality of life, daily functioning, mood, self-efficacy, and healthcare resource efficiency.
