Professionalisation of care professionals for future-proof community-oriented care for older adults

To make community care for older adults future-proof, strengthening the line of research ‘Professionalisation of Nursing and Care for Older Adults’ is essential. Professionalisation promotes value-driven, coordinated and integrated care, in which older adults are partners.

Aim

This line of research focuses on developing and advancing knowledge on professionalisation aimed at delivering appropriate care for frail older adults living at home and their relatives. This contributes to quality of care, supports ageing in place, and enhances staff retention and continuity.

Approach

Within this line of research, 2 PhD projects will focus on professional autonomy and voice and collaborative capacity. The research starts with a literature review, followed by qualitative studies involving professionals, older adults and relatives. Interventions will be co-created and tested in learning communities and evaluated through pilot studies, with attention to implementation and embedding in practice and education.
