RondomDiabeter: Interprofessional collaboration in lifestyle coaching of people with diabetes type 1

Keeping blood glucose levels under control with the help of insulin is extremely important for people with type 1 diabetes. Lifestyle coaching helps individuals find a good balance between insulin use, healthy eating, and getting enough physical activity and exercise. That balance is especially difficult for people with a low income or limited health literacy.

Aim

In this project, we examine the health of people with type 1 diabetes who receive lifestyle coaching in 5 regions, through a cohort study.

Approach

Rondom-Diabeter is a collaboration between lifestyle coaches, dietitians, and diabetes nurses who support and guide people with type 1 diabetes in achieving a healthy lifestyle. They’re active in 5 different regions of the Netherlands.
We also evaluate their interprofessional collaboration, so we can support Rondom-Diabeter professionals in improving their teamwork and align lifestyle coaching as closely as possible to the personal circumstances and background of people with type 1 diabetes. We will make our results and products publicly available.
