Wireless Assessment of Respiratory and circulatory Distress – Europe

The WARD-EU project aims to enhance patient care using the WARD-CSS system for continuous monitoring of vital signs with wearable sensors and artificial intelligence (AI) to alert healthcare professionals about potential patient deterioration, while minimizing unnecessary alarms.  

Methods 

The project investigates the clinical acceptance and societal impact of WARD-CSS in-hospital and at home in 5 EU countries: Denmark, Switzerland, Poland, Portugal and the Netherlands. Three studies will evaluate nurse and patient satisfaction, compare clinical outcomes and healthcare costs, and understand the barriers and facilitators for implementation, aiding in scaling the technology across EU healthcare systems. 

Aims 

This system transforms inefficient manual intermittent monitoring into a preventive data-driven system, freeing up healthcare resources by reducing complications and saving human resources. It allows staff to focus on essential tasks like communication and treatment decisions, and potentially earlier and safer discharges.
