Aap noot TOS: Effectiviteit en implementatie van dyslexiebehandeling voor kinderen met TOS en comorbide dyslexie / ABC and DLD: Evaluating and implementing dyslexia intervention for children with DLD with comorbid dyslexia

Oral and written language abilities are pivotal for daily functioning and well-being. A considerable percentage of children with developmental language disorder (DLD) displays severe and persistent word-level literacy problems (dyslexia) next to their oral language problems. Although treatment of the oral language problems of children with DLD is available, this is not the case for their dyslexia. As of 2022, reimbursed diagnosis and treatment of dyslexia is possible in The Netherlands for children with DLD. In order to assess whether dyslexia treatment is effective for children with comorbid DLD+dyslexia, we compare the outcomes of a dyslexia treatment of children with DLD+dyslexia with those of children with unimorbid dyslexia and with school records of children with DLD who had not received dyslexia treatment despite their literacy deficit. These outcomes will be used to shape the optimal delivery and sustained implementation of treatment for children with comorbid DLD+dyslexia.
