A digital antimicrobial stewardship smartphone application to combat AMR: the AB-assistant

Antibiotica zijn onmisbaar in de moderne geneeskunde. Daarom is het van belang om onjuist gebruik van antibiotica te verminderen, waardoor antibiotica behouden blijven voor toekomstig gebruik.  In dit project wordt de AB-assistent, een app voor de smartphone, verder ontwikkeld en geëvalueerd. Een dergelijke app is een innovatieve en gestandaardiseerde benadering om antibiotica voor te schrijven volgens de huidige richtlijnen. Hiertoe wordt in samenwerking met partners uit Canada, Zweden en Zwitserland een al bestaande app (Spectrum MD) aangepast. Daarna wordt het gebruik van de app getest in landen met verschillende talen en culturen. Met deze kennis wordt de app per land bijgesteld. Vervolgens wordt de AB-assistent geëvalueerd in een internationale multicenter, gerandomiseerde studie in 5-6 landen met verschillende typen animicrobiële resistentie. Het belangrijkste einddoel is dat antibiotica worden gebruikt volgens de richtlijnen. Daarbij willen de onderzoekers in kaart brengen hoe vaak de AB-assistent wordt gebruikt.
