Beslissingen rondom de grens van levensvatbaarheid zijn omgeven door ethische dilemma’s. Er moet een behandelkeuze gemaakt worden voor het extreem vroeggeboren kind. Dit onderzoek richt zich op optimale besluitvorming en zorg rondom extreme vroeggeboorte, en de bijbehorende ethische vragen. Ook zal ethisch onderzoek volgen naar de ontwikkeling van de kunstplacenta.

On the limits of perinatal viability: ethical challenges of personalized counseling and the artificial placenta

Decisions at the edge of perinatal viability are surrounded by ethical dilemmas. In the Netherlands the lower limit of initiating care is strictly 24+0 weeks. The aim of this research is to define the optimal way of personalized counselling on extreme prematurity and in the future with the artificial placenta.
