Om zo veel mogelijk informatie te halen uit reeds uitgevoerde studies is het belangrijk om de bestaande wetenschappelijke literatuur diepgaand te analyseren. Zogeheten ‘syntheses of evidence’ (SEs) zijn stapsgewijze en transparante methoden voor zulke analyses. In de klinische praktijk worden SEs, en in het bijzonder systematische reviews, routinematig uitgevoerd, maar in het proefdieronderzoek zijn zulke reviews nog ongebruikelijk. Recente publicaties laten zien dat SEs van dierstudies onderzoekers veel kunnen opleveren. Dit project stimuleert de uitvoering van SEs van dierexperimenten met drie activiteiten: (1) organiseren van workshops waarin biomedisch onderzoekers ervaring kunnen opdoen met het uitvoeren van de verschillende stappen in een SE, (2) deelnemers aan de workshops begeleiden bij een SE op hun eigen onderzoeksgebied, (3) via verschillende communicatiemiddelen delen van kennis over en ervaringen met deze methodiek.
