Revision and implementation of the stuttering guideline (2020)

In 2020, the revision of the monodisciplinary evidence-based guideline 'Stuttering in children, adolescents and adults' for speech therapists was published by the Dutch Association for Speech Therapy and Phoniatrics (NVLF). The guideline was developed in close collaboration with the Dutch Association of Stuttering Therapy (NVST) and the Dutch stuttering association Demosthenes.

In January 2025, the board of the NVLF, together with the NVST, determined that a complete revision of the guideline and several modules is necessary. Since the publication of the Stuttering guideline in 2020, the field has undergone important scientific and clinical developments, with more attention for the person-centered approach and involvement of parents/caregivers and/or relatives of stuttering children, adolescents and adults. These developments constitute the need to revise the guideline in order to provide healthcare professionals with up-to-date, evidence-based tools.

Aim

The aim of this project is to revise the guideline in order to provide healthcare professionals with up-to-date, evidence-based tools.
